Dedication This website is dedicated to this group's longtime facilitator, Therese. Please take a moment to learn a little about her. "Hi. My name is Therese. I'm a nurse who has worked with mothers and infants on an OB unit since 1983. We never spoke of PPD to new moms. In 1993, I gave birth to my third child. It was at that time I had my first experience with postpartum depression (PPD). It was a terrifying experience for me as well as for my family. To begin, I lost all feelings toward my new baby, my other children, my husband and myself. I felt that I had no purpose in life, that I was the only one who was experiencing these feeling and that they would never end. However, that was not the case. I found hope, information and reassurance through the help of a local PPD support group. It was because of that support that I became facilitator of the Central Ohio support group." Many women in numerous places around the globe have received much-needed information and solace in Therese's support and wisdom. As many of POEM coordinators have experienced PPD, we bring our own sense of dedication to helping women through the debilitating illness from which we once suffered. But, our commitiment to preserving, respecting and growing with this organization is very much stemmed from our inspiration and awe of this truly amazing woman. Currently, Therese serves as the Provider Liaison and Treasurer for POEM. Thank you, Therese.
